Careers Advisor and VET Coordinator

A formal qualification in career counselling is a requirement for this role. A successful applicant who does not already possess such a qualification would be expected to work towards gaining it.
Coordinate the VDSS program, including but not limited to:
- Manage the enrolment process, including internally and externally, via cluster portals.
- Monitor student's attendance and progress
- Liaise with trainers and parents when required.
- Manage VET administration, including but not limited to:
- Liaise with cluster and attend meetings and professional development when required.
- Ensure accurate VASS enrolment and UoC data is available to the Administration Assistant.
- VET purchasing contacts and invoices.
- Distribution of progress and semester reports and communication about students AROF.
- Keep up-to-date enrolment information and distribute it to relevant sub-schools.
- Assist students during the school-based subject selection process with VET choice.
- Prepare reports for the team leader.
Coordinate the My Career Insights, Morrisby Program for all Year 9 students:
- Liaise with external and internal stakeholders, including the My Career Insights program coordinator.
- Coordinate profiling and consultations of all Year 9 students
- Communicate with students and families.
Assist with implementing the Work Experience Program, including but not limited to:
- Assisting with the placement of students.
- Ensuring the administration process is adhered to.
- Organising scheduled visits to students on placement.
- Maintaining a database of employers suitable to support a Work Experience program
Assist in ensuring all Year 9 – 12 students complete a Career Action Plan
Monitoring the destination and pathways information of all post-compulsory aged students who leave the school for a required time period of six months.
Assist in organising the production and effective communication of relevant information and publicity for careers programs to staff, students and parents, including weekly Careers News and internal end of term newsletter.
Provide information and advice to Years 9 – 11 students about subject selection, including VET.
Conduct pathway planning sessions with Year 12 students, including:
- University and TAFE applications
- SEAS applications
- Scholarship applications
- Change of preference meetings
Assist students to develop resumes, job applications and interview skills.
Develop and maintain professional relationships.
Share responsibilities, work collaboratively, and generate ideas within the Careers and Pathways team.
This is a full-time position of 36 hours per week. Work is during school terms only. Education Support employees are given ten weeks of paid leave each year (20 days annual leave and 30 days other paid leave), which is to be taken during school holidays.
