About the role
The role of a medical receptionist is varied, at times challenging but always rewarding.
Weekend and evening availability is a must as is general flexibility to cover a wide range of shifts across our opening hours.
Main Duties and responsibilities:
- Greeting, assisting and registering new patients,
- Handling telephone enquiries and making appointments
- Processing payments and Medicare claims
- Scanning documents
- Helping patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
- Protecting patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information
- Maintaining operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
- Following up on outstanding results and correspondence
- General administrative duties as required
- Assisting with accounts
- Maintaining professional rapport with all patients and health professionals
- Any duties requested of the employee by a doctor or a senior staff member
- Any other duties as requested by the practice manager
- Ensuring the reception area is well maintained, neat and clean.

- Knowledge of general administrative duties
Desirable skills and experience:
- Previous experience in the medical industry
- Previous reception experience
- Experience with medical software
