Please note, due to the nature of the business, this roles’ start time is 1 pm Sunday to Thursday with flexibility of work start/finish hours on the Sundays. The role is located in Sydney CBD with close proximity to all modes of public transport.

This role is responsible for a food preparation and production team of initially up to 8 staff and reports directly to a dynamic Catering Kitchen Manager.
You’ll be fully trained on their systems and processes.
The Role:
As the Catering Kitchen Supervisor, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the preparation and production of catering orders meet the standards and are completed on time, ready for morning team to complete orders for delivery.
More specifically, the responsibilities cover the following key accountabilities:
- Understanding the business from end to end, be hands on supervising the team on the kitchen floor and performance.
- Be Preparation Focused: Majority of the role is centred on preparing for next morning’s orders and production.
- Food Preparation and Production Tasks: Engage in both preparation work and production activities and be accountable for facilitating a smooth transition for the morning team.
- Complete final production and ensure a thorough close-down at the end of every shift.
- Workflow Optimisation: Ensure team members are assigned stations for efficient production flow with emphasis on swift and streamlined work through designated stations.
- Administrative Responsibilities: Handle ordering processes and stock control and manage staff rosters (using Tanda) and ensure health and safety standards are adhered to.
- Labour Cost & Inventory Ordering Management: Ensure adequate staffing levels while adhering to labour cost targets in addition to stock ordering responsibilities as required.
- Training and Upskilling: Responsibility for assisting in the training and upskilling of team members.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the quality assurance team member to maintain standards in addition to strict adherence to recipes and ensuring compliant product presentations.
- Collaborative Approach: Emphasis on teamwork and collaboration for overall success.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this role is a highly motivated professional with experience within the catering/food production industry. A candidate who can showcase exceptional people management abilities and has a results-oriented approach. More specifically:
- 2+ years’ experience in a similar supervisory role or a candidate who is ready to take the next step in their career.
- Multitasking professional with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while enforcing health and safety standards.
- Solid background in food safety compliance.
- Roster management experience.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Advanced time management skills and a proactive organiser.
- Be highly adaptable to change as this business is in growth mode.
- Have the ability to take on direct feedback and give feedback for the good of the business.
- Have full working rights in Australia.
