The Role in a Nutshell
This role requires you to charge development headings using ANFO, previous ANFO experience is not essential, although looked upon favourably. As the shotfirer you will be responsible for the handling, use and storage of all explosives on site as well as the firing of both Development and Production blasts.
Based on-site at Kanmantoo Copper Mine, working a 7/7 rotating roster alongside a dedicated team of experienced professionals, all striving towards the same goal! Bring your experience and knowledge to a place where it is valued.
As we ramp up production stages we are looking for individuals to bring their skills, knowledge and experience to our growing mine site as we continue to scale up.
But what are the Fundamentals
As an experienced Production Charge up/Shotfirer you'll be responsible for charging, firing, and the overall accountability of the handling, use and storage of explosives on both the surface magazine as well as underground. You will load and fire stope holes in accordance with the blast plan, while ensuring compliance with statutory and standard operating procedures are upheld. You'll put your problem solving and technical skills to the test in a team environment with changing situations. We fire off an open circuit using electronic detonators, although electric detonators that involve being set up in a series and use of a stinger are sometimes required.
We are a small start-up site with big goals so you will be a team player that will jump between priorities with enthusiasm and get hands on. There's never a dull moment and so much room for growth (both yours and ours) because let's be honest, there's a lot to achieve here!
So… What’s really required?
- Current Blasters/Shotfirers Licence – SA or equivalent interstate.
- Demonstrated experience in Chargeup - Production (ANFO a plus).
- Experience in the operation of a Normet Charmec and Integrated Tool Carrier in the underground environment.
- Open stoping operation experience.
- Cemented rock fill placement exposure.
- Current Australian drivers license (minimum C Class).
- Ability and willingness to pass full medical.
- A positive can-do attitude with a good sense of time management and strong urgency for pursuing targets safely.
