In this role, you will bring your strong leadership, business management and stakeholder skills to the fore in leading and promoting the work of Advocare, a long established and well known organisation in the Aged Care sector. Following a period a very significant growth, the Board of Advocare are searching for a new CEO to helm this purposeful and passionate organization. The CEO will continue the work of the incumbent CEO in delivering exceptional support and advocacy for the rights of older people in WA.The CEO will have responsibility for implementing the organisation’s new strategic plan and further building on the mission of Advocare to provide older people access to independent advocacy support, information and education.Key features of the Advocare CEO role include:
- The overall leadership and management of the organisation
- The management of Advocare’s resources, implementation of the organisation’s policies and meeting of legal and contractual requirements
- The setting and modelling of Advocare’s cultural values and behaviours and strengthening the organisations reputation and influence

- Advocacy – ensuring an older person has a say in the decisions that affect them.

- Education – raising awareness and understanding and support empowerment.
- WA Elder Abuse Helpline – free, confidential information, support and referral.
- Volunteering – respecting the lives of older people by providing companionship to reduce social isolation and loneliness.
- Home Care Check-in Service – providing support to older people receiving aged care services, who might not have family or community networks around them, increasing their risk of living safely in the community.
- Care finder service – supporting vulnerable older people who would not be able to arrange services without intensive support and who do not have a family member or friends to help.
The organisation is looking for a current CEO or a seasoned senior executive looking to step into a CEO role. Key criteria include:Essential
- Proven strategic leadership and operational management skills.
- Proven ability to deliver strategic outcomes and collaborative partnerships.
- Understanding of governance and compliance requirements and working with a Board.
- Understanding and commitment to social justice and advocacy.
- Ability to influence social policy.
- Sophisticated understanding of the media and ability to represent the agency effectively and with authority in public forums.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the capacity to work with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of aged care, disability and related legislation.
- Empathy with and an understanding of the issues affecting the aged and disability sectors.
- Practical knowledge of advocacy, counselling or similar support services.
