About the Opportunity:
Based in Adelaide, this Executive rare retail opportunity for a Chief Financial Officer has ultimate responsibility and accountability for the day to day running of the Finance, Payroll, IT and Human Resources and works closely with the CEO to support, develop and implement short and long term strategic business
and operational plans, projects, program and systems.
Key Responsibility Areas:
Financial Leadership & Governance
- Manage the end-to-end finance and reporting functions including budgets, forecasts, variances, cash flow, P&L and balance sheet reporting.
- Develop dashboard reporting around key metrics in a timely and accurate manner to enable effective decision making.
- Manage budgeting cycles and provide rigour in forecasting and budgeting as per the business plan.
- Provide structure and rigour in cost management and cost control including management of financial delegations and accountability.
- Ensure the effective end-to-end financial processing and management of accounts payable and receivable, including debtor management.
- Manage banking and investment requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with legal, tax and government requirements.
- Manage risk and the external accounting and audit providers.
- Oversee all statutory requirements, governance and legal matters.
- Ensure all insurances are in place and appropriate to the business needs.
- Develop suite of operational reports to drive business performance as well as board reporting.
- Conduct in-depth financial analyses and modelling.
- Prepare various management reports, chair monthly management meetings and participate in monthly Advisory Board meetings.
- Promote a culture that reflects the company’s values, encourages good performance, promotes accountability and rewards productivity.
- Manage and provide oversight to company projects to ensure on track and integrated across the organisation.
- Mentor and provide direction and management support to the Management team to support the organisation goals.
- Guide, nurture, inspire and develop Managers to assist achieve targets.
- Oversee the nominated areas of responsibility to ensure delivery of targets.
- Set business rules and KPIs (to ensure Executive oversight on important business measures and regularly review performance to ensure on track and any issues flagged early).
- Champion values and culture development.
- Ensure Enterprise Agreement compliance with rostering processes and pay structures.
- Lead payroll department.
- Address any escalated People and Culture matters with external HR Partner.
- Oversee the performance review process and development program.
- Ensure relevant and aligned policies are in place and updated as required.
- Monitor and reinforce compliance with internal standards, policies and the code of conduct together with relevant external legal requirements. Institute timely disciplinary action for breaches in accordance with company policy and prepare written incident reports.
- Lead people processes including recruitment, performance development and management and industrial relations issues that may arise (in conjunction with the company’s HR advisor as required).
- Ensure ongoing development to attract, retain and grow team members.
- Lead IT and data projects to ensure on track and on budget.
- Ensure processes are in place to protect and secure systems.
- Continually review ways to optimise systems.
- At least 5 years General Management or C-suite previous relevant experience.
- Background strength in finance and reporting, strategic thinking and commerciality.
- Solid understanding of HR legislation and practice.
- Excellent report writing and ability to develop meaningful reports/information for relevant audiences.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience and enjoy working in scale up, fast paced, high growth environments.
- Practical planning and execution skills with a successful track record of implementing value adding sustainable improvements.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Mentoring skills with the ability to share knowledge and to grow team members.
- High computer fluency (particularly in forecasting and business improvement systems).
- Ability to be part of the senior leadership team.
