Job description

LMS Energy (LMS) is Australia’s largest emissions reduction company and the national leader in biogas-to-energy projects. Recently backed by Pacific Equity Partners (P.E.P.), Australia’s leading private equity firm, LMS requires the services of a full-time or part-time Chief Financial Officer in Adelaide, SA.

LMS is Australia’s leading ‘at scale’ decarbonisation platform, owning and operating over 60 methane abatement and bioenergy projects. The successful applicant will play a key role in building on LMS’ unique market position and delivering on its mission to reduce methane emissions across the waste, agriculture, and resources sectors. LMS’ shareholders are unified in their passion for protecting the environment, treating people well and fostering a team-based culture underpinned by innovation, inclusivity and flexibility.

In this new position, you will collaborate with the executive leadership team, Board and other stakeholders to shape key financial decisions, optimise financial performance, and support the continued growth of LMS.

We are inviting applications from experienced and commercially astute financial executives with:

  • The ability to develop and execute key financial strategies that align with the company’s objectives
  • Strong technical knowledge for driving operating performance and capital allocation, risk management and executing funding strategies

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the development of financial plans, budgets, and forecasts
  • Analyse financial data and provide insights to support decision-making and resource allocation
  • Develop and oversee LMS’ corporate risk management framework (including financial risks, including market risks, regulatory risks, and operational risks)
  • Oversee accurate and timely financial reporting, including the preparation of financial statements, regulatory compliance, and disclosure requirements
  • Oversee appropriate Board reporting documentation and manage review of Board Papers for financial investment decisions
  • Manage and forecast cash flow to support day-to-day operations, capital projects, and investment opportunities while optimising working capital
  • Lead and mentor the finance and procurement teams, fostering a high-performance culture and promoting professional development
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, including due diligence, contracts and commercial negotiations
  • Implement cost-effective strategies and drive cost-saving initiatives to enhance profitability
  • Ensure compliance with financial laws and regulations in relevant jurisdictions, monitoring relative legislative changes and facilitating the Company's expansion into new markets by ensuring legal compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • Qualification with an Australian professional accounting body such as CA or CPA
  • MBA or other relevant professional certification is desirable
  • Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role, preferably within the energy or waste sector or a related infrastructure or asset heavy industry
  • Strong commercial and business acumen
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Refined leadership and people management skills
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
  • Regular intrastate and interstate travel
  • Australian Drivers Licence
