As an independent regulator, they have a strong focus on creating a safe online world and regulations, policies and education to assist with navigating the challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s digital universe.
They also play a pivotal role in ensuring that regulation and privacy are applied by third parties and big tech, promote compliance and achieve good and safe outcomes for all of us.
The Chief Technology Officer is a critical and newly created role reporting to the CIO with dotted lines to the Executive responsible for Technology and Digital technologies, and will manage the Strategy and Enterprise Architecture practice.
This role will also serve as the Chief Technical Advisor to the executive leadership team, driving innovation through the research, recommendation and implementation of existing and emerging technologies that focus on Regulation, Trust and Safety, and Digital Investigations.
You are a senior Technologist who understands how to design and implement digital transformation strategies, bring others on this journey, whilst adhering to necessary government privacy and security guidelines .
You will be an essential part of the Technology Leadership team and will be leading and managing a small group which includes Enterprise Architecture, Planning and Risk and Cyber Security.
You will be expected to promote and support innovation which might include the adoption of AI and Machine Learning capabilities, to mature the data analytics function and enhance critical business systems and public facing digital products.

The role will include the following responsibilities:
- Leading the Architecture and Strategic functions, developing the enterprise architecture and technology innovation roadmaps to guide investment
- Chair the Architecture Governance Group
- Act as the Chief Technical Advisor
- Establish and cultivate relationships at both a strategic and operational level with key stakeholders and executives
- Direct the development of policies and standards
- Manage staff, budgets and risk.
- A proven background in delivering Enterprise Architecture, Technology, Strategy and Innovation ideally within Government, Big Tech, or similar
- Deep architecture and technology expertise within the Microsoft stack
- Demonstrated experience in leading digital transformations, including best practice strategies, solutions whilst managing change
- Strong knowledge of frameworks which include enterprise architecture, information security and data privacy within Government.
- Strong writer, presenter and communicator
- A strong people leader
- Last, but not least, you will demonstrate a strong interest in contemporary and emerging online safety technologies (or digital forensics, content moderation and Trust and Safety /Reg Tech).
