About Chocoholic Tours
Chocoholic Tours has been operating in Melbourne CBD since 1995. We lead chocolate themed Walking Tours around Melbourne's lanes and arcades every day of the week. You can find detailed information about us and our tours on our website.
We offer two different Melbourne CBD options for guests:
- An exclusive, small group tour: A Lanes and Arcades tour at 10:45am
- Family friendly, budget conscious option: A city Chocolate Walking Tour at 2:15pm
Plus, we offer school, corporate and private group bookings throughout the week.
Each tour runs for between 2 to 3 hrs and you would normally be rostered for both tours on the same day.
Our tours are offered every day of the week. Usually, they actually run four or five days out of seven but most of our tours run on the weekend; so, you must have weekend availability, especially Sundays.
About the role
Chocoholic Tours is looking for someone with a fun, energetic, entertaining, and vibrant personality to join our team as a Chocoholic Tour Guide.
Our Guides are well-presented, vibrant, sociable, have good voice projection, able to improvise and adapt to the situation. You must also be knowledgeable about Melbourne and its foodie scene.
We are looking for foodies who love chatting to people and know where the best cocktails and hottest restaurants are in Melbourne. You will have a good knowledge of Melbourne CBD.
You will have good natural voice projection, be able to improvise when things don't go to plan, gauge the group dynamic and alter your material to cater to the group. Applicants with teaching or immersive theatre experience are particularly desirable.
As this is an ongoing position, we are looking for someone who is looking for longer term casual work.
We are flexible and can work around your availability; for example, many of our guides are performers and take periods of time off for performing projects or tours.
We are looking for somebody who is available to start training in late January / early February so you are ready to start leading tours in late February. In particular, you must be available on Sundays.
You will be required to learn about chocolate, the history of Melbourne and be proactive about learning quirky facts about our city to share with your audience. Full training will be provided.
To apply, please send us your CV and answer the questions below. If you fit what we're looking for we'll be in touch to arrange an interview.
We are aiming to complete training in early February so you are ready to start leading tours in late February.
Working for us
You would not be expected to be available every day; however, we are only recruiting people with good Sunday availability.
We send an email in the 3rd week of each month asking for you to confirm your availability for the upcoming month. The tours are then allocated accordingly.
Not all tours you are rostered for will go ahead as there may not be enough bookings. You will receive an email each week confirming your upcoming tours for the week. A guide with good availability will typically complete about 10 tours a month.
Tours are paid at $100 per tour. Team meetings are held twice a year where all guides come together. Meetings last for two hours and are paid at $50 per meeting.
If this sounds like you then please check out our website. You can also read some of our reviews on TripAdvisor / Google/ Facebook.
