CHPP Manager

Owned by Yancoal, Yarrabee is based in Blackwater QLD which is 200 km west of the Capricorn Coast.
Yarrabee is a proud producer of high-quality PCI coal since 1982. We employ approximately 400people, who are our most valuable asset and we invest in developing our management and leadership talent throughout our operations.
Yancoal Australia is Australia's largest pure play coal producer. It boasts three tier one thermal coal mines in New South Wales together with interests in three other metallurgical and thermal coal mines located in New South Wales and Queensland. Yancoal Australia also manages five other Australian coal mines on behalf of related parties. Yancoal currently employs over3,000people across its operations.
We are currently looking for a CHPP Manager to join our team of industry-leading and experienced professionals to provide strong leadership and support a high-performance culture by role modelling and reinforcing the behaviours that will underpin the success of our award winning operation.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for effectively managing the CHPP and Boonal TLO Operations, Maintenance and Contractor teams to optimise the production of coal whilst promoting continuous improvement in safety, team work, plant performance, and costs.
This role is based in Central Queensland with flexible commute or residential options available.
In this role you will:
- Ensure an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
- Build business partnerships and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders
- Provide leadership and coaching to the members of his/her team by applying the Yancoal Core Values
- Deliver a stable and optimised production
- Overseeing the strategic direction of the Production Overburden department
- Interfacing regularly with aligned departments to optimise safety, maintenance and production efficiencies
- Monitor operating costs ensuring that spend is controlled to the allocated budget
- Relevant Tertiary Degree in related disciplines is advantageous
- Experience with Coal Mining/CHPP and large-scale production operating environments is required
- Demonstrated experience in a senior leadership role in mining operations is required
- Contractor management and relationship management experience
- Experience leading a diverse team to deliver exceptional safety and operational outcomes
- Foundational leadership experience and engagement of teams that support high quality and engaged delivery
- Experience implementing continuous improvement strategies with financial and commercial acumen
- Understanding of their individual obligations as outlined within the Queensland Coal Mining Legislation
- Understanding of risk awareness, hazard identification and a strong commitment to safety performance
- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to plan, coordinate and manage competing priorities within set deadlines
