We are looking for an experienced Claims Manager to manage employee’s Worker’s Compensation claims for work-related injuries or illnesses.
About the team
Our Insurance branch works together to effectively manage insurance risk through the City's Insurance portfolio which includes General Insurance and Workers' Compensation. In addition, we oversee the management of the City of Gold Coast Insurance Company Limited, our Captive Insurance company.
Our team works together to carry out the self-insurance function of workers’ compensation for the City.
About the role
In this role, you will review and manage employee’s Worker’s Compensation claims for work-related injuries or illnesses. Working within a high performing, customer-centric team you will be responsible for end-to-end claims management including claim determination.
To help us achieve our ongoing high performing service delivery, we are looking for an experienced Claims Manager to undertake key responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Fostering a positive return to work and safety focused culture
- Making accurate and timely decisions on claims in accordance with the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003
- Providing a high-quality customer-centric service, showing empathy and care in all dealings and activities
- Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Partnering internally with Health and Injury Management and People and Culture to ensure workplace rehabilitation or return to work is effectively completed
We’re looking for people who have:
You have experience reviewing and managing physical and psychological compensation claims. You are driven, confident and can provide expert workers’ compensation advice. You’ll also need:
- Demonstrated customer service excellence, including the ability to contribute as an effective and proactive member team member
- Demonstrated experience in workers' compensation claims, including the ability to proficiently develop reason statements
- High level of integrity, and the careful management of confidential information
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with particular emphasis on consultation, negotiation, conflict resolution and assertiveness
- Demonstrated experience in workload prioritisation and effective time management
- Proven ability to exercise initiative and judgement when required
- Ability to effectively engage with key stakeholders to support the claim determination & management process
