Mater Refugee Health Services are seeking Clinical Nurses (CN) to join the Multicultural Health Coordination team working in full time or part time, until 30 June 2024 on a maximum term contract, based in South Brisbane however requiring travel to Logan and Ipswich.
The hours of work will be Monday - Friday between 08:30 - 17:00. We require applicants to be available for minimum 0.6FTE (3 days per week) and able to work in Logan and Ipswich.

Mater Refugee Health Nurses provide nursing care, coordination, and health advocacy to individuals from refugee backgrounds in a variety of settings, including General Practices across Brisbane, Logan and Ipswich, the Mater Refugee Complex Care Clinic, community clinics and home environments.
We are seeking creative thinkers and problem-solvers with a high level of clinical skills, IT skills and communication skills. We are particularly seeking nurses with skills and experience in community child and adolescent health.

Salary range: $52.63 - $56.38 (Registered Nurse Level 2) per hour plus superannuation and salary packaging access up to $15,900
What you'll be doing
Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards for the service you will be responsible for:
- Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
- Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of the Australian healthcare system and management of patients with complex health needs
- Building and maintaining relationships with key health stakeholders, and supporting cross-sectoral governance, relationships, and partnerships vital to appropriate management of health for people of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) background.
- Conducting systematic, holistic assessments of patients' health needs and health literacy using an outcome-based framework which is grounded in the social determinants of health to provide the highest standards of supportive care and care coordination
- Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
- Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth

To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
- Class C driving licence
- Minimum 3 years' clinical experience in at least one of the following specialist nursing fields: refugee health/ primary care/ rehabilitation/ disability/ paediatrics/ geriatrics/ chronic disease/ mental health
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and health equity and access issues for disadvantaged populations, with demonstrated experience in supporting clients to navigate these
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience of working with peoples from diverse cultural backgrounds; engaging interpreters in a clinical setting, and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels.
- A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
- Demonstrated ability to operate both in a team environment and autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning and strong advocacy, listening, negotiation and decision-making skills
- A high level of attention to detail and organisational skills
- Commitment to ensuring the levels of service is always delivered to patients
- Immunisation Program Nurse qualification
- Post-graduate studies (completed or currently enrolled) relevant to the role
