What you'll be doing
The role of the Clinical Psychologist is to provide district-level specialist assessment and evidence-based care delivery that supports safe transitions of consumers into care in a community setting based on the individual consumer’s strengths, needs, and wishes. These services are to be least restrictive, collaborative, nominated carers and family responsive and inclusive, rehabilitative, encourages self-advocacy, facilitates empowerment and capacity for optimal functioning.
A primary goal of this position is to work collaboratively with staff, consumers, carers and other agencies (both within WSLHD and government and non-government organisations [NGOs]) to promote effective participation in mental health treatment, support and recovery. This role will carry a clinical caseload, alongside leading and championing practice change and participating in quality improvement, workforce and service development.

Essential Requirements:
- Qualifications: Masters or Doctoral degree in psychology and current registration with AHPRA.
- Registration: Demonstrated full registration with AHPRA as a Clinical Psychologist, with practice endorsement for clinical psychology.
Selection Criteria:
- Post-graduate experience working as a Clinical Psychologist with demonstrated experience in the assessment, development and delivery of successful individual and group cognitive behavioural treatments, including an understanding of the principles of recovery and psychosocial rehabilitation.
- Demonstrated current clinical knowledge and comprehensive understanding of contemporary mental health issues, and experience working in inpatient and community mental health settings.
- Demonstrated high level communication and negotiation skills (written, electronic & verbal) and demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and develop and maintain effective partnerships with a range of key stakeholders, including NDIS services, GP’s, Community Managed Organisations, inpatient and community mental health teams, consumers and carers.
- Demonstrated experience and leadership in planning, implementing and evaluating clinical service delivery programs, and quality improvement activities.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to / conduct professional education related to mental health and provide staff clinical supervision.
- Ability to provide substantial consultation to other health professionals, community service providers, GPs and service managers, providing high level clinical, service and strategic advice in mental health.
