Stories is presented by award-winning Perth hospitality operator, Nokturnl; the team who brought you The Old Synagogue / Tonic + Ginger, The Beaufort / Lotus and South Perth’s exciting new venue, The Station / Ludo. We're looking for talented Bar Managers to join our opening team as we prepare to redefine the boundaries of hospitality in the CBD.
Nestled within the depths of Stories lies Fat Controller our clandestine speakeasy. A nod to the neighbouring Perth central train station, this secret bar offers a unique cocktail range and word-of-mouth charm – adding an element of intrigue and sophistication to the Stories experience.
Cocktails are the star of the show here and we‘ll be pulling out all the stops to make sure we achieve the best cocktail experience possible. Using top notch ingredients, with the latest techniques made by the best staff.
We are now on the hunt for a Cocktail Bar Manager to join a concept that will be known for its exquisite crafted cocktails, beers & rare spirits. This unique concept requires a creative soul and a passion for theatrics and experience.
As Bar Manager it will be up to you to drive our vision, provide and thrive as a smooth operator in a fun and lively environment. You will need the ability to lead and mentor your hand-picked team of bartenders. As a key member of the opening team, you will set the service standard, orchestrate the service style, and make your mark on the hospitality landscape.
Along with Fat Controller, you’ll be instrumental in writing cocktail menu’s for other venues within the precinct.
Key skill requirements...
- Minimum 2 years’ experience
- A deep understanding of craft cocktails and modern mixology
- Service is at the heart of everything you do - ensuring all operations are in line for smooth service and a memorable guest experience
- Must have a current WA RSA certificate, Approved Managers card, COVID hygiene certificate, Food Safety Certificate and full Australian working rights

- Ability to monitor employees for professionalism and presentation with performance management and mentoring as required
- A positive and respectful management style that will set the benchmark for a dynamic team
- Excellent communication, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
- Flexible availability
- An ability to train and nurture staff is critical, to ensure longevity
- Attention to detail is also important, an almost obsession with all touchpoints of the visitor experience as it relates to the restaurant, with the pro-active nature required to make improvements as necessary.
