About the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia
The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) is Australia's audiovisual cultural institution. The NFSA collection includes more than 4 million items including films, television and radio programs, videos, audio recordings and video games. The collection also includes contextual materials such as costumes, scripts, props, artefacts, photographs and promotional materials. In the digital age, the NFSA's wealth of stories will be increasingly available across the country, and on demand.
We are seeking a Collection Distribution Coordinator to support the Rights and Distribution teams' management of the sale and distribution of the NFSA's collections, including via the NFSA's new streaming service NFSA Player. This work supports the NFSA's strategy of increasing opportunities for generating own source revenue, complementing existing public funding and providing for a resilient NFSA into the future.
You will bring to the role an understanding of the film, sound, broadcast, and/or digital publishing industries, have experience in commercial distribution activities, and in research, contract and rights management particularly applied to audio-visual materials.
You will support the NFSA's Collection Distribution and licensing work, including researching the NFSA's collections for content available for NFSA's use and for licensing and supply to internal and external stakeholders. You will work with copyright material, verifying the rights status of NFSA titles, including its Film Australia Collection and the NFSA National Documentary Production deliverables.
Your ability to be highly organised and work confidently in an information management environment using applications such as Office 365, TRIM, FilemakePro and media asset databases will help you manage a busy workload, while still meeting deadlines. An ability to navigate and maintain a range of databases and online resources for research, sales and rights records management is essential.
The Collection Distribution Coordinator is a key member of the Access section providing access to the national collection through reference services, digital delivery, footage sales, loans, and distribution. The team is split across our Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra offices.
This position is located at the NFSA's Sydney office in Pyrmont.
