A Communication Officer is required for a contracted full-time position for an inner western council. Working within the communications and engagement team, your role will be to manage the quality and execution of all internal and external communications and advocacy at both a strategic and operational level.
Your daily task will include:
- Handle media inquiries in a quick and timely fashion, act on opportunities for media commentary, photo opportunities, radio interviews, social media opportunities, and media briefs.
- Take part in Council's media centre by contributing high-impact media content.
- Assist with communication within the Council and contribute with appropriate ideas and photos.
- Identify and resolve potential issues raised on the Council's media channels.
- Assist the Communication Engagement Officer with their current engagement schedule.
Requirements include:
- Tertiary qualification in Communications or Community Engagement with relevant experience or experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated high-level communications and writing skills.
- Experience in working with the media and an understanding of their channels, use, and emerging trends.
- Ability to work in a fast past environment with the ability to multitask.
- Valid car licence.
