AddressWe're seeking a highly skilled Communications Officer to join our corporate communications team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating engaging content, managing multiple platforms, and promoting our brand and reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mayoral comms, speeches, forewords, columns, interview preparation, media responses and enquiries
- Develop and implement high-quality communications and marketing plans to achieve business objectives
- Manage the council's brand and reputation through effective media relations and crisis management
- Contribute to the development of corporate communications strategies and plans
- Write and edit copy proficiently for corporate communications, including media releases, social media posts, and marketing materials
- Design and implement digital marketing campaigns to reach diverse audiences
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project delivery
- Manage customer and media enquiries in a timely and professional manner
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in a communications or public relations role
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Proven experience in managing media and developing high-quality communications plans
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of how to engage with diverse communities through various formats and channels
Desirable Criteria:
- Current NSW Class C Driver's Licence
- Previous experience working in Local Government
- Knowledge or understanding of Local Government Services
- Advanced skills in Microsoft 365 software
- Basic understanding of Adobe Creative Suite software
- Basic photography and videography skills
