POSITION OVERVIEW
As the Community and Events Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning, organising, and executing a variety of events, including the coordination of volunteers to enable our community members to connect with each other. The role will ensure events are run smoothly and meet or exceed expectations. Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills are crucial for success in this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Event Planning:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine event objectives, themes, and requirements in-line with school policies and procedures.
- Develop detailed event plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Source and negotiate with vendors, including venues, catering, entertainment, and other event-related services.
- Coordinate logistical aspects of events, such as setup, pack down, and on-site management.
- Ensure all risks are documented and necessary permits and licenses are obtained.
- Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members to ensure a clear understanding of expectations and deliverables.
- Community Development:
- Develop and maintain volunteer registers, including Friends of Burgmann (FOB) and Class Parents.
- Oversee and support the coordination of FOB activities and Events.
- Support the Principals office for the effective management of Alumni events and supporting data collection and management.
- Facilitate the engagement of volunteers and the wider Burgmann Community at School events, enabling them to connect with each other.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Proven experience as an Event Coordinator or in a similar role.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and community satisfaction.
- Proficient in event management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
