The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager – Sales & Business Development, the role of Sales & Business Development - West will ideally suit a dynamic, results-driven, and highly motivated mining sales and Business Development professional eager to join the highly successful internal Sales team based in Welshpool.  

This strategic role will drive the growth in the Western region, sales, leads, supporting and nurturing our existing portfolio of clients, tender preparation, and other activities to achieve sales targets to ensure long-term success.

The Sales & Business Development – West will understand our existing and future client needs and offer timely and tailored solutions.  Additionally, working closely with the General Manager – Sales & Business Development and Sales team you will continue our development efforts to secure long term business success.

In the fast-paced world of mining, you will be an experienced mining engineer, sales and Business Development professional who is familiar with surface mining products.  You will be willing to share your knowledge with your team and to our customers, be passionate about OEM equipment and our tailor it-for purpose objectives.

This critical role in the team will suit an adaptive and innovative thinker, a brand builder, and a proven mining engineer with a passion for sales success in an OEM market.

This position is offered as permanent, full time.  Please note that you will be required to travel therefore be able to spend nights away from home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee Western Region by developing and maintaining sales leads, current clients, tenders, and other activities to achieve a sales target.
  • Maintain strategic long-term trusting relationships with key clients to accomplish organic growth and long-term company objectives. 
  • Gather, report, and regularly communicate customers' feedback on service, technology, and product delivery.
  • Expand your relationships and serve as a link with existing customers by continuously proposing solutions that meet their objectives.
  • Develop sales presentations, proposals, and reports for senior management, clients, and conferences. 
  • Serve as the link of communication between key customers and internal teams 
  • Resolve any issues and problems faced by customers and deal with complaints to maintain trust.
  • Play an integral part in generating new sales with existing clients that will turn into long-lasting relationships.
  • Maintain sales management and reporting tools to achieve business objectives. 
  • Actively participate in the national sales budget processes and supporting strategies.
  • Proactively use sales management and reporting tools such as prgress and monthly reports, visit reports, and CRM reporting to achieve business objectives. 
  • Act as a brand ambassador and reflect company values at all times.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • A Tertiary or Trade Certificate qualification in Engineering.
  • Proven experience in capital sales and negotiating multimillion-dollar contracts in mining equipment environment.
  • A solid understanding of the haul dump truck tray, buckets, and mobile equipment manufacturing market; including trends, technologies, products, and competitors.
  • Advanced technical product knowledge and optimum haul requirements.
  • Ability to strategise and develop tactics to build on existing clients identifying potential business opportunities.
  • Experienced in supporting a mechanical engineering team.
  • A high level of understanding of engineering calculations and appropriate application.
  • Understanding of commercial negotiation and relation to the cost of products.
  • Competent in the use of engineering software and design tools.
  • High level of motivation, time management with the ability to work independently and part of a national team.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong commitment to safety at all times.
  • Current Drivers Licence.
  • Intermediate computer literacy skills in Microsoft Suite, CRM and ASANA.
  • Ability to pass a full Pre-Employment Medical including a drug and alcohol screen.
  • National Police Certificate.
