Public Sector People are working with a local council in the south suburbs of Brisbane (LOGAN). We are is seeking a Community Development Coordinator (Homelessness Lead) to coordinate and strategically lead Council’s response to homelessness in the City of Logan.
This is a exciting newly created position.
The purpose of the role is to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to investigate /research and establish a policy position, coordinate an action plan and undertake strategic and targeted responses relating to homelessness in the city.
This role suits someone who likes variety and is passionate about the community and housing and homelessness.
No day will be the same. Working with multiple internal and external Stakeholders.

Responsibilities will include:
- Undertake research and engage with key stakeholders to establish a policy position that articulates the departments objectives, principles, role and engagement in relation to homelessness.
- Establish an organisational process and practical referral pathways for the department officers who engage with people who are homeless as a part of their roles.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop an organisation-wide action plan to address opportunities and actions to address housing and homelessness.
- Represent and provide input on behalf of the departments established cross-government and sector, working groups.
- Undertake research, identify opportunities, and build a business case to establish a service that fills the gap of a ‘homeless outreach’ service in Logan.
- Engage key stakeholders to identify gaps/opportunities to strengthen cross-government/sector collaboration and outcomes.
About you:
- A degree in Human Services or other relevant fields is (highly desirable)
- Demonstrated ability to engage and mobilise community and internal stakeholders to establish goals and outcomes (Highly Desirable)
- Strategic planning and policy development experience within a government context
- An understanding of trends and service systems relating to homelessness is (highly desirable)
- Advanced writing and verbal communication and engagement skills (mandatory)
- Current ‘C’ class driver’s licence (mandatory)
