An exciting opportunity has become available for a Community Engagement Officer – Major Projects to join the Customer & Stakeholder Engagement team within Sydney Water. This role supports the team in implementing the strategy, delivery and process improvement for stakeholder and Community Engagement from the early planning, design and construction. The role liaises with community and stakeholders to assist with the delivery of communication and engagement tasks supporting Major Projects.

Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of communication and engagement strategies to promote the brand, protect reputation, manage issues and deliver successful programs.
- Produce a range of appropriate communication tools and materials tailored to different audiences. This could include web content, flyers, newsletters, videos, social media content and advertising activities.
- Auditing, monitoring and improving performance of contractors.
- Develop and oversee a content approvals process, ensuring sign-off by relevant internal stakeholders for stakeholder communications and engagement plans, messaging, Q&As, fact sheets, publications and video/online content.
- Work across several projects simultaneously, ensuring activities are well coordinated and delivered on time.
- Coach and develop contractors and partners on managing and building effective community and stakeholder relations through formal and on the job training.
- Develop a sound understanding of the business and build trusted internal relationships that support the delivery of highly effective community and stakeholder engagement outcomes.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Degree qualifications in a communications, marketing, public relations, Community Engagement or related discipline or relevant experience.
- Progress towards International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) Certificate.
- 3+ years’ experience in Community Engagement, stakeholder engagement or corporate affairs, in a complex environment experiencing change.
- Development and delivery of community and stakeholder engagement strategies on infrastructure projects.
- Experience working with contractors and partners to ensure performance standards are achieved
- A strong team player with proven ability to collaborate with others to achieve goals.
- Creative thinker with demonstrated ability to develop strong and trusted relationships and influence key stakeholders (internal and external).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including any experience in developing and implementing community and stakeholder engagement plans and supporting collateral.
- Demonstrated presentation skills and good negotiation, problem solving and liaison skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritise projects and working to tight deadlines, across multiple stakeholders.
