About the Position
As a Community Engagement Worker, you will provide direct services to clients, including outreach with a Public Intoxication focus, which can include a range of activities with clients under limited supervision either individually or as part of a team. This may include crisis intervention, and other supportive interventions.
Community Engagement Workers maintain accurate records of client interactions and service provision, ensuring that information is up-to-date and accessible through Anglicare North Queensland systems. Through this, your role may contribute to case planning and may result in advocacy, referrals and transportation support to specialists or other agencies for specific services, depending on the client's needs.

Position responsibilities
- Data input and word processing at a basic level, providing routine information, including general telephone duties.
- Apply established practices and procedures.
- Client contact and interaction, including attending to their direct care under direct or routine supervision and either individually or as part of a team as part of the delivery of services.
- Supporting the logistics of the service, including handling of vehicles and equipment in line with relevant practices and procedures.
- Undertake routine administrative duties involving filing, recording and maintenance of an existing records system.

Key Relationships
- Works collaboratively with Anglicare NQ Executives, Managers, Staff and Volunteers.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with Anglicare NQ partners, other Non-Government Organisations (NGO) and local community businesses.
- QLD and Commonwealth Government Departments, e.g. Department of Human Services, Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs and other government departments as required.
Special Conditions
- Hold a current QLD drivers licence ‘Class C’ or interstate equivalent
- Blue Card (Working with children card)

Essential
- Developing knowledge of workplace functions and operations, work practices and policies
- Basic knowledge of practices and procedures for the workplace
- Basic numeracy, written, and verbal communication skills

- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities.
- Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
- Awareness and/or experience working with people experiencing mental health challenges.
- Awareness and/or experience working with people experiencing alcohol and other drugs challenges.
