About the Opportunity
The Sydney Conservatorium of Music's is seeking a Community Program Officer to provide administrative support for children, students, musicians, music educators, and the community at large. Please note that this role entails duties outside regular hours and on weekends.
The Open Academy is committed to promoting community music-making and offers numerous short courses designed to provide adults with the skills and knowledge to pursue their musical interests, curiosity, or find a creative outlet for their talents in a collaborative group learning environment catering to beginners right through to experienced musicians.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Coordinating classes and events, providing production support for Open Academy courses and workshops
Addressing various inquiries from staff, students, visitors, and the public through phone, email, and in-person interactions, covering various aspects of the work area's operation
Coordinating marketing processes using print, web, digital, and social media platforms, along with negotiating with external suppliers
Working closely with course facilitators to organize the development of course outlines and associated materials
Collaborating with the Faculty Finance Department to handle program fees following established procedures
Executing daily administrative tasks and delivering support services for courses and workshops.
About You
Possess a music-related tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience in a community, performing arts, or adult education environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in handling a wide range of inquiries and providing excellent customer service
High-level competency in and knowledge of word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications such as those in the Microsoft Office suite
The ability to undertake duties outside regular hours and on weekends
Have an interest in the promotion of community music-making (desirable)
