We're seeking two passionate and skilled individuals to join our team as Community Coordinators, one focusing on Service and the other on Community. Together, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering impactful courses and creating a supportive environment for our participants.

Community Project empowers individuals experiencing homelessness and hardship in Sydney to build brighter futures. We provide immediate support through essential services like meals, showers, and laundry while fostering long-term personal development through dynamic short courses designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence, they need to uncover what work lights them up and leverages their superpowers, find employment in this area, embrace technology, and more.
What we are looking for:Job Readiness and Digital Skills Design and Delivery:
- Support developing and delivering engaging short courses that equip participants with essential skills for the modern workforce, including resume writing, job interview preparation, communication, digital literacy, and basic technology skills.
- You will be working closely with Canva’s People team to develop these resources and tweak them to be fit for purpose for the intended audiences (through “user testing” these lessons and resources with community groups and nonprofits).
- Use research-based strategies for trauma-informed teaching and individual support.
- Incorporate interactive workshops, group activities, and real-world simulations to cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
Continuous Improvement:
- Collaborate to design and implement effective assessment tools to track participant progress and course effectiveness, and most importantly, are we achieving our goals?
- Analyse impact (data and feedback) and use this to improve, expand, and refine the course.
Stakeholder Management:
- Work with the Foundation Team to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, including Canva team and volunteers, service providers/non-profits.
- Own the recruitment and relationship management of participants to the program, working closely on a referral basis with non-profit and service providers
- Facilitate collaboration and resource sharing to strengthen the support network for participants.
- Cultivate relationships with Sydney's homeless service provider network to enhance program reach and connect participants with essential services.
Empowering Participants:
- Provide individual mentorship and support to help participants overcome challenges, build confidence, and achieve their goals beyond the classroom.
- Use a trauma-informed approach to create a safe and supportive environment where participants feel empowered to reach their full potential.
Essential Criteria
- Degree in social work, education, or related field (preferred).
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering workshops or training programs.
- Strong individual mentoring and coaching skills.
- A trauma-informed approach to service delivery (desired qualifications or certifications a plus).
- Familiarity with the challenges and needs of individuals affected by homelessness and hardship (preferred).
- Strong digital skills, proficiency in common software and basic hardware troubleshooting
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- First Aid and Mental Health First Aid certifications (current or willing to acquire).
- Passionate about empowering individuals and making a positive difference in their lives.
