ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Community Safety Officer, you will support our team to deliver functions in the areas of animal management and registration, enforcing the Bass Coast Shire Local Law 2022 and responding to customer requests.

Reporting to the Team Leader Community Safety, your core duties include:

  • Responding to and investigating reports and community concerns relating to alleged breaches of Acts, Regulations and Council Local Laws,
  • Educating the community on their relevant legal responsibilities, encouraging, and maintaining compliance through locally coordinated enforcement activities,
  • Providing clear and effective communication in relation to enforcement matters, investigations, collating evidence, and partnership programs to all relevant stakeholders in often complex and confidential situations,

HOW TO BE A SUCCESS:

Are you seeking a role that combines your experience in animal management and handling, your well-developed communication and customer service skills and your ability to effectively navigate legislative processes and systems?

You will need a tertiary qualification in a related field, such as a Certificate IV in Animal Control and Regulation or substantial experience in local law enforcement, investigations or animal management environment.

As Bass Coast is home to many special events and seasonal celebrations, Community Safety Officers are expected to be available to work outside normal hours as part of our community response on-call and beach patrol rosters.

If you are highly motivated, can multitask and provide exceptional customer service, with the appropriate qualifications and experience we would like to hear from you.
