We are currently seeking a Compliance Officer in our Electronic Collection Unit (ECU) as part of the Integrity Division. The LECC’s ECU provides multiple operational, technical and compliance services in support of investigations. Our unit employs specialist staff who work in a highly controlled and sensitive environment.
About the role:
Working as part of the Integrity Division, the ECU Compliance Officer ensures that the LECC meets all of the complex legislative compliance requirements of Commonwealth and State Legislation governing telecommunications interception warrants, stored communications warrants, surveillance device warrants and access to telecommunications data. They are responsible for the warrant administration, production of evidence, and the destruction of content and data in accordance with legislation. In addition, the Compliance Officer provides high level advice to ECU management and contributes to agency responses and submissions relating to compliance and legislative reform.
The Compliance Officer is also responsible for facilitating independent inspections of records by the Secure Monitoring Unit within the Office of the LECC Inspector and by inspectors of the National Assurance and Audit Branch of the Commonwealth Ombudsman.
To be suitable for this role you will have:
- Highly developed communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Experience in operational environments.
- The ability to interpret and apply legislation.
- Have a strong knowledge of the requirements of the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979, the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act (NSW) 1987 and the Surveillance Devices Act 2007 (NSW) or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.

Eligibility
- To be eligible to apply for this role you must be an Australian citizen.
- The LECC Act 2016 (Sec 21) prohibits the appointment of current and former sworn members of the NSW Police Force or NSW Crime Commission to this role, however current and former civilian (unsworn) employees of the NSW Police Force and NSW Crime Commission may apply.
- The successful applicant will undergo a stringent to establish reliability, trustworthiness, integrity and suitability of employment. In addition, LECC officers are also required to obtain a commonwealth security clearance, with the Compliance Officer requiring clearance at a NV1 classification.
