The role
As the Senior Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for investigating a range of complaints regarding development and building compliance, land use monitoring and environmental standards to ensure legislation and regulations are complied with. You will also conduct investigations, monitor and report on compliance/regulatory matters and initiate enforcement processes, as required. In addition, you will be responsible for preparing for Land and Environmental Court matters where you will represent Council.
What you'll bring
To succeed in this position, you will have proven experience in development assessment compliance or related field. You will possess comprehensive experience in conducting field investigations, enforcement action and sound working knowledge of relevant legislation including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Protection of the Environment Operations Act.
You will be proficient in negotiation, research and time management, and have advanced analytical and problem solving skills which help you to develop innovative solutions. Your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively support the Coordinator Compliance to mentor team members, act for the Coordinator during periods of leave, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Environmental Health & Regulatory Services department.

The package: Commencing salary circa $102,000 p.a. plus superannuation.
A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
