Are you ready to take charge of compliance and make a significant impact? CS Energy is seeking a dynamic Compliance Specialist to support the implementation and maintenance of our compliance strategy and framework.
As a Compliance Specialist, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our company adheres to regulatory and internal compliance requirements for key risk areas. You'll contribute to fostering a culture of compliance, conducting quality assurance processes, and evaluating performance to ensure effectiveness.
Working closely with all areas of our business, including Health, Safety, Environment, and Trading, you'll ensure that compliance obligations are understood, recorded, and escalated when necessary. Your exceptional communication skills and passion for compliance will be key as you interact with a wide range of internal stakeholders.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Undertaking compliance reviews in accordance with the Compliance Framework and Plan.
- Verifying that actions from compliance reviews have been completed.
Participating in compliance related investigations. - Preparing quarterly compliance reporting for the Executive and Board Committees.
- Coordinating periodic management attestations/ compliance certificates regarding compliance / non-compliance with current obligations.
Monitoring proposed legislative or regulatory changes and assessing potential impacts on the compliance plan, procedures, or obligations. - Working with compliance obligation owners and business units to ensure obligations are identified and recorded in the GRC system and that appropriate controls are implemented.
- Providing periodic advice to the business on existing or new compliance obligations.
- Preparing and providing training to staff on relevant compliance issues and obligations.
- Supporting the business to implement updated processes related to regulatory changes.
- Supporting the annual attestation requirements associated with the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act Risk Management Plan.

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:
- Degree in Business/Economics, Commerce, Law, Finance or similar discipline relevant to the operations of the energy industry.
- Compliance related accreditation (desirable).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a compliance, regulatory or similar governance related role.
- Energy industry experience is desirable.
- Understanding of Corporations Act and Competition and Consumer Law.
- Knowledge of the National Electricity Rules (desirable).
- Knowledge of relevant regulators and associated legislation (Work Health Safety Queensland, Australian Energy Regulator, ACCC, Home Affairs).
- Knowledge of Risk Management, Compliance, Assurance and Governance standards and best practice.
- An ability to work accurately and reliably with detailed information.
- An ability to communicate and cooperate with others.
- Communicate openly and effectively and ensure high quality information is exchanged between self and others.
- Ability to modify priorities proactively and be sensitive to time constraints.
- Flexible working hours as required to meet the business needs. Additional hours outside of normal working hours may be required, for example when working to reporting deadlines.
- Ad hoc travel may be required.
