  • Total Indicative Remuneration: $351,503 - $790,258 p.a. (pro rata) – MD2 - Ongoing Part-Time – working 15 hours per week

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:

Lyell McEwin Hospital – The major hospital in the north and north-east for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetrics, paediatrics and outpatient services.

Modbury Hospital – A general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.

About You:

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Consultant / Clinical Academic within the Women & Children's Division.

As a Consultant / Clinical Academic in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, you will contribute to the delivery of high quality medical services to patients of the Women & Children’s Division.

In this role you will act as a clinical lead for academic work at the NALHN. This includes driving and participating in research, supporting others in research needs, acting as a mentor for registrar research projects, and encouraging and supporting audit and professional development.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • overseeing medical student training at NALHN.
  • providing appraisals of medical undergraduate and trainee medical officers assigned to the unit.
  • participation in both academic and clinical work at NALHN.
  • managing the care of all patients allocated to them in collaboration with the responsible Resident Medical Officers, Registrars, fellow Consultants, Midwives, Nurses and Allied Health professionals.
  • care of patients in outpatient clinics and patients admitted to hospital.
  • supervising and participating in operating lists.
  • involvement in Continuous Quality Improvement activities and auditing.
  • mentoring and being a resource for Midwives.
  • providing teaching to trainees of all levels and disciplines.
  • participating in all ongoing training and CPD requirements.
  • participating in and encouraging clinical research.
  • providing advice and guidance for RANZCOG research requirements.

In this role you will participate in a 24/7 on call consultant roster.

To be eligible for this position you must hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.

You must hold an academic appointment at the University of Adelaide.

The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.
