The Principal Lawyer is also a registered builder.
The firm was created to change the way subcontractors approach contracting and legal issues.
About the Role:
This role will be predominantly office based with some flexibility to work from home.
This role is full-time with flexibility. Our firm prides itself on supporting employees with parental obligations.
This is a client facing role.
Reporting to the Principal Lawyer and Senior Associate, your responsibilities include:
- Support lawyers in assisting clients with negotiations, variations, claims assessment and proactively avoiding disputes.
- Aid in the preparation and evaluation of variation claims.
- Review subcontractor quotes, subcontracts and drawings to assist clients in contracts management according to the firm’s policies and guidelines.
- Ensuring compliance with Security of Payments Legislation.
- Review expert reports, defect reports, drawings and variations to assist the litigation team.
- Liaise with experts including quantity surveyors.
- Communicate with clients and ensure an understanding of subcontract obligations
- Review registers of variations, extension of time claims, and notifications.
- Liaise effectively with site teams to capture key contract administration information.
About you:
- 3+ years of experience in construction or engineering. Preference for a candidate with experience in structural trades.
- Some onsite experience is preferred
- Strong written and oral communication skills,
- Proficiency in using various IT systems and tools for relevant contract management such as project management software (Asana, Trello or Monday), Microsoft Project, Aconex e.t.c.
- Self-motivated with excellent planning skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in reading architectural drawings, structural drawings and civil drawings.
- Proven ability to work under pressure, meeting tight deadlines, and managing stakeholder expectations.
- Knowledge of tendering, procurement processes, and subcontract principles.
- Outcome-focused, hands-on, and operationally driven with strong technical capability.
