Band 8 - Salary Range $120,224 to $134,591 per annum + 11% Super + RDO

The Opportunity
Are you looking for a great opportunity to put your skills into practice? We are recruiting for the Coordinator Environmental Services role. The position will report to the Manager City Environment & Sustainability and will lead a multi-disciplinary team that oversees development and implementation of key projects and strategies to enable the protection and enhancement of environmental values in Melton.
We require someone who is able to work with Council teams and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes that protect and enhance environmental values on public and private land in a Growth Area Council.
As a successful candidate you should be able to communicate clearly what is required to respond to climate change, can quickly establish good working relationships with key stakeholders and has experience with the development and delivery of strategies and polices that relate to biodiversity and pest plant and animal control.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the broader Environment & Sustainability team and other departments to enable improved ecological outcomes within Melton and assist Council and the community to respond to impacts of climate change and rapid urban development.
- Foster a culture of collaboration within the team that creates opportunities for staff to grow and develop.
- Coordinate the preparation and implementation of relevant strategies, policies, management plans and guidelines to deliver improved biodiversity and environmental outcomes for Council in response to the impacts of climate change and rapid urban development.
- Develop and lead the implementation of policies and processes that enable improved delivery of Council capital projects while ensuring that natural assets are protected and enhanced.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in an environmental discipline or lesser formal qualification with extensive and diverse experience or intensive specialist experience.
- Extensive experience in the development and implementation of strategies and polices relating to biodiversity and the natural environment, including obtaining external funding to assist delivery.
- Well-developed skills in negotiation and conflict resolution with the ability to deal with difficult situations and present a positive Council image.
- Expert understanding of the underlying principles of natural environment, biodiversity and climate change.
- Ability to coordinate and lead staff to work positively and pro-actively within a team environment to achieve organisational goals.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
