About the facility

Barwon Health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is one of Victoria’s largest regional health services with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 8,700 staff and more than 1200 volunteers. We provide care at all stages or life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care, and subacute/rehabilitation. Care is provided to the community through over 30 key locations throughout the region.

About the role

The Falls and Balance Coordinator ensures the provision of a consumer centred model of care within the Falls and Balance Clinic. This service provides specialist assessment and diagnosis of balance problems, dizziness and falls, along with recommendations and is delivered through a coordinated team of medical, nursing and allied health clinicians. In partnership with the McKellar Community Rehabilitation Coordinator the key objectives of this role are:

• Organising the daily operations, including human resource management, service improvement and innovation and management of service specific issues.
• Assisting the Coordinator in the strategic planning, implementation, coordination and review of services.
• Visible, accountable and purposeful leadership to facilitate the delivery of high-quality Falls and Balance Clinic.
• To ensure effective consumer partnerships to improve healthcare outcomes and the patient experience.
• To ensure all Falls and Balance clinical staff have the appropriate skills and knowledge required to fulfil their roles and responsibilities.
• To ensure consumer safety and minimisation of clinical risk.
• Continuous improvement, safety and appropriateness of clinical care through evidence-based best practice
• Build and maintain professional network and relationships with other Falls and Balance Clinics
