The Coordinator Waste Operations is the leader of the Domestic Waste and Parks & Commercial team and is responsible for managing the effective and efficient operation of Domestic, Commercial and Public place bin collection essential services including all bin repair and delivery operations. This role is key to building and maintaining a culture that proactively and efficiently manages safety and other risks to effectively deliver essential services to the community.
Roles may evolve and change over time, in line with the changing strategic and operational requirements of the organisation to deliver quality services to our community.
This position is required to work from Council’s Works Depot located at Boolaroo from 5:00am to 1:57pm and be available for on call as operational required.
This exciting role will:
- Lead the effective and efficient delivery of essential domestic, commercial and public place bin collection services within allocated budgets and established timeframes.
- Provide leadership, direction and guidance to the team in order to motivate and support staff to be proactive and perform at a high level, achieve objectives, foster a high performing and safety conscious waste collections team.
- Collaborate with other Waste Services Coordinators to improve the quality of service through improvements to information, rosters forecasts and training for staff, including assisting with facilitation of training where required.
- Utilise data and observations to continuously improve safety, processes, customer experience, resource management and performance.
- Provide efficient and quality customer service as a customer centric champion including responding to Councillor requests, managing service requests from the community, investigating reported incidents and general correspondence.
- Provide input into the development of budget needs for the function and management of expenditure and correct allocation of costs within the allocated budget requirements and ensure accurate allocation of costs for area of responsibility.
- Develop, review and implement controlled documents related to Waste Operations including procedures, position statements, work method statements and risk assessments, in consultation with team members.
- Supervise and make recommendations regarding Council’s bin replacement program and manage public bin infrastructure.

LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOU
- You hold Tertiary qualification/s in business, management, waste and/or extensive experience in a similar position.
- Previous experience within a similar position in management of waste collection services and knowledge of plant and equipment used in the waste service industry will be evident.
- Having excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills your conflict resolution skills and ability to display a high level of resilience will be evident.
- Your excellent customer service skills managing complex customer enquiries is of a high standing.
- As a leader your forward-thinking, open-minded approach will ensure you can work within established procedures, while challenging the “norms”, and be productive and efficient in your decisions
- Most of all you are team player with a positive work ethic and a 'can-do' attitude!
- You hold a current Class C drivers’ licence.
