About the role
In the wake of rapid growth, we present an exciting, newly created role for a dedicated junior accountant. As a crucial member of the team, you will have complete ownership of a subsidiary company financial management, overseeing all accounting activities (cash, payables, receivables and payroll), budgeting, audits, taxation, financial reporting, and business performance analysis. You'll also play a pivotal role in supporting the broader HealthX group by managing the full accounts payable function and assisting in month-end activities. Gain exposure to new systems implementation (ERP and accounts payable automation) as we embark on a major systems upgrade project with go live before June 2024. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine day-to-day bookkeeping for the subsidiary, including data entry, payment processing, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliation.
- Manage month-end tasks for the subsidiary, preparing month-end accounts and assisting with board reporting.
- Prepare subsidiary BAS, IAS, and PAYG workpapers and lodgements for review by the HealthX accountant.
- End-to-end accounts payable responsibility for HealthX group, ensuring timely and accurate invoice processing and payments.
- Collaborate with the HealthX Accountant for Group month-end tasks and monthly management reporting.
- Review worker loan and deductions calculators before release, managing weekly reconciliations, and addressing discrepancies.
- Maintain supporting documentation and workpapers related to worker loans and deductions.
- Undertake other ad-hoc duties as required.
Skills, Competencies & Qualities:
- Prior experience in an assistant accountant position with a keen appetite for learning and development
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work to strict time constraints and ability to prioritise work
- An organised and methodical approach to a task
- Strong communication and team player
Qualifications
- An accounting, commerce, or business degree
- Currently enrolled in CPA/CA studies
- A minimum of one year relevant experience (assistant accountant, accounts officer or similar)
- Microsoft Navision and Xero experience beneficial but not mandatory. Training will be provided.
