Position objectives
The Customer Service & Library Officer has a strong focus on delivering exceptional and consistent Customer Service to the local community, library members and members of the public.
About you:

- Local Government and/or public libraries experience
- Strong numeracy, literacy, verbal and written communication skills
Responsibilities:
- In-person and phone Customer Service
- Cash handling and receipting of a wide range of accounts, permits, applications and registrations, daily banking procedures
- Ensure efficient and exceptional service, accurately providing information to all customers and stakeholders
- Actively engage with, and passionately serve the Kangaroo Island Council's community, through the delivery of inclusive library programs, council services, events and ceremonies
- Records management tasks including the coordination of external correspondence
- Administrative support to the Planning Officer, Building Officer and Environmental Health Officer
- Assist library users to find appropriate information and materials
- Maintain and keep up to date member registrations
- General administration duties

Qualifications and Experience:
- Year 12 SACE or equivalent
- Certificate level Library Services or similar (desirable)
- Experience in working face to face with customers in a Customer Service delivery environment
- Experience in accepting and accurately receipting of monies; processing payments and banking
- Knowledge of the role of public libraries in ensuring equitable and safe access to the internet and associated resources
- Sound general knowledge local government functions (desirable)
- Basic understanding of the SA public library network, PLAIN Central Services and the State Library of SA (desirable)
