About the Role:
The Data and Insights Officer will play a supporting role in operationalizing Data and analytics initiatives. Under the guidance and direction of senior staff, they will be supporting the data quality standards required for data management. They will need to follow existing data governance and data security policies and guidelines within this role.
In collaboration with senior staff, the Data and Insights Officer will also be working with key business stakeholders, IT experts and subject-matter experts to support the planning and delivery of data quality initiatives for data management. This role will be required to work both creatively and collaboratively with IT and the wider business.
- Support Data Product Development and Maintenance: Under the guidance of senior staff, the Data and Insights Officer will be supporting the end-to-end development of Data Products. This will include (but not be limited to):
- Develop and apply criteria and processes for validating and verifying data.
- Manual data cleaning, researching and ring arounds to ensure data quality standards are met.
- Maintaining WMQ's Data Catalogue
- Development of data management training material
- Capturing Requirements: Under the direction of senior staff, the Data and Insights Officer will support requirement gathering for data quality initiatives across the business.
- Collaborate across departments: The Data and Insights Officer will need collaboration skills to work with varied stakeholders within the organization for data quality activities.
- Participate in ensuring compliance and governance during data use: The Data and Insights Officer will need to follow existing data governance and compliance guidelines for data quality when supporting the development of Data Products.
- Support Data Product Delivery: Under the guidance of senior staff, the Data and Insights Officer will support the data management lifecycle for data products.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Requirements
Essential:
- Experience working with Excel and Enterprise Information Systems
- Experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Willingness to learn and be guided by senior leadership on data management best practices.
Desirable:
- Ability to learn a combination of basic IT and Analytics skills.
- Ability to learn SQL and a BI/Analytics software tool (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik and others)
