Position Profile: The Data Management Officer develops and maintains a number of data collections and registers required for statutory purposes, supporting care provision, research, planning and system wide performance monitoring, evaluation and reporting. They will work with Data Management stakeholder groups to deliver strategies for the standardisation, development and maintenance of high quality collected data.
This role is ideal for a person who has an interest, skills, knowledge, or experience in the creation and management of information assets (data, records, and information). The assets we manage are valuable for health service planning, funding, audit, research, and meeting requirements of relevant legislation.
This unit ensures information assets are well described in metadata, validation standards have been set and met, confidential information is protected, data users are educated in its strengths and weaknesses, and the information is available on time for use by approved users.
Our Data Management Officers regularly liaise with, and influence, key internal and external stakeholders including health professionals, policy staff, data engineers, analysts, and others.
Information management is a rapidly developing science. Skills in this area are highly desired by Government agencies who have responsibility for the safekeeping, use, and disclosure of information about our citizens. System programming, data processing, and data analysis are not included in this role.
