The Data Management Systems Specialist is responsible for overseeing and maintaining Data Management Systems within the Integrated Product Support team. This position involves responsibilities related to Data Management Systems (DMS); implementation, data storage, data migration, retrieval, security, and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data across various departments for project specific contractual requirements.
The Specialist plays a pivotal role in optimising data-related processes, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
The Data Management Systems Specialist will work closely with the HDA ICT, ICT Security, Export Control, CM and others to achieve a compliant capability to meet contractual requirements.
Your new role:
Your primary areas of responsibilities:
- In cooperation with relevant internal stakeholders, develop, maintain, and optimise the Data Management System to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security.
- Manage day to day aspects of data collection, storage, and retrieval processes for specific contractual requirements.
- Assist in data migration, data cleansing, and data transformation activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and internal/external stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Serve as the primary power user, administrator, and key operator responsible for managing and overseeing the application-level aspects of software solutions within the Integrated Product Support team.
- Implement and enforce Data Management policies and procedures for day-to-day activities.
- Implement and monitor data quality controls, perform data validation checks, and rectify discrepancies.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve system issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
About you
As an ideal candidate you will have:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Management, Information Systems, or a related discipline would be an advantage.
Experience:
- Demonstrated experience of delivery of complex large-scale programs.
- Proven experience in Data Management, data governance, or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of data lakes, data warehousing, and database Management Systems.
- Proficiency in database Management Systems (e.g., SQL, Oracle, MySQL) for managing and querying data.
- Experience with data modelling and database design to create efficient data structures.
- Knowledge of data integration and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for data extraction and transformation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve data-related issues.
- Familiarity with data quality assurance techniques and data validation checks.
- Previous experience in establishing, maintaining and or managing a Data Management System in a Australian Defence Industry environment (Desirable).
