The Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) is an intergovernmental organisation working to strengthen national capacity and regional solidarity so Pacific nations can manage, control, and develop their tuna fisheries now and in the future.

We are now looking for a Database Administratorto join our team on a  full-time basis.

​​As a Database Administrator at the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA), you will report to the Manager of Information Technology. Your role will be pivotal in providing technical leadership for database administration, ensuring the effective management of FFA's and member countries' databases, and supporting the development of regional and national information management systems.

Main Responsibilities:

• Manage and administer FFA's database systems, ensuring their efficiency and effectiveness.
• Lead database development and maintenance initiatives.
• Provide technical and systems support, contributing to user training and system documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and member countries, offering technical advice and support.

We are looking for a dedicated professional with a graduate degree in computer science, information technology or a related field, and at least 5 years of experience in database management, preferably in cloud environments. 

As our ideal candidate, you will have significant experience using word processing and presentation tools. Your skills in SQL, programming languages, and GIS tools will be crucial to succeed in this role. 

Desirable Qualities:

• Experience in designing, developing, and implementing data systems migration.
• Prior programming experience with GIS-related tools like Google Earth/Maps, QGIS, and PostGIS.
• Proficiency in handling new technology in challenging environments.
• Experience with Technology One Cloud Hosted Financial, HR, and Payroll systems.

In addition to the required qualifications and experience, your combination of technical skills and ability to collaborate in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team will make you a key contributor to our team. Your oral, written, and presentation communication skills in English must be excellent.

For your work and effort as our Database Administrator, you will receive a competitive salary package of circa US$61,670.00 - US$84,717.00  (tax-free, for citizens of most countries), negotiable to earn more based on your skills and experience.

• Superannuation, paid at 7.5% into either a nominated fund or an additional cash supplement (paid out every 6 months or twice a year).
