Form of workStamford Plaza Melbourne is seeking an energetic Demi Chef to join our passionate kitchen team on a Fixed Term - Full Time basis.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Preparing food items by following standardized recipes to deliver consistent quality dishes
- Support the Executive Chef in the daily operations
- Make adjustments to food items to accommodate guests dietary requirements
- Ensuring ‘mise en place’ is ready prior to service delivery
- Complying with control procedures for food production, portion control and stock management
- Rotating through each kitchen of the hotel in order to develop a broad range of skills and work with a variety of talented chefs
- Following hotel procedures in regards to preparation and pack down of kitchen areas
- Ensuring kitchen work area is hygienic, clean & well presented
The ideal candidate will be:
- Proactive, energetic and shares a passion for the hospitality industry
- Trade qualification in commercial cookery
- Demonstrated experience working in a 4 or 5 star hotel (desirable)
- Previous experience with a la carte service
- Previous experience in a busy commercial kitchen
- Flexible to work on a rotating roster which includes weekends and public holidays
- Possess effective communication skills
- Organised, innovative and committed to the kitchen
- Can work in a high pressure, fast paced environment
