About this role

The Dental Officer provides routine and advanced levels of care within rural clinics, including outreach programmes. This role involves examination, investigation, treatment planning and treatment of patients. Other duties also include contributing to the strategic and operational planning for adult programmes in the clinic to develop and promote activities aimed at improving dental health in the community.

This role reports to the Dentist-in-Charge.

Progression: An employee may be eligible to progress from Level 1 Dentist – Year 6 to Level 2 Dentist – Year 1 and from Level 2 Dentist – Year 3 to Level 3 Dentist. All progression is dependent on Dental Officers meeting the prescribed characteristics and other features, which includes where appropriate, meeting clinical output. Progression is available to both full time and part time Dental Officers.

What we are looking for

We are seeking enthusiastic and suitably qualified Dentists to join our Community Dental Unit 2 (CDU2) mobile dental clinic team. We are seeking Dental Officers with well-developed communication skills, who thrive working as part of a small team to deliver high quality oral healthcare, including education. Additionally, the successful candidate will participate in the analysis of monthly reports for the clinic, initiate review and evaluation procedures, and provide reports, returns, financial estimates and requisitions as required.

Location

Community Dental Unit 2 (CDU2) is a mobile dental clinic which is Perth based and provides dental care to the eligible school children and adults in the Central Wheatbelt Area. 

The staff travel from Perth in an allocated Government vehicle to the mobile on a Monday morning and return to Perth on a Friday afternoon.

Accommodation is provided, and meal and incidental allowances are claimable when the staff are located away from their base in Perth.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service.
