The successful candidate will assume the role of the Design Manager for a large tunnel infrastructure project in the State of New South Wales, Australia. This role will be based in our Sydney office.
What will be my responsibilities?
- The Design Manager will report directly to the Project Manager and will work closely with the System Architect and SW development Manager to coordinate all the respective Design activities for a large tunnel infrastructure project in the State of New South Wales, Australia.
- The tasks and responsibilities of the Design Manager will include:
- To lead a team of solution engineers (the Design Team) towards developing, submitting and having approved all the Design deliverables. The scope of the design will include the Operations Management and Control System (OMCS), Traffic Management and Control System (TMCS), Plant Management and Control System (PMCS) and Motorway Network Management and Control System (MNCS).
- To lead the interface coordination meetings with the customer, other contractors, involved authorities and other stakeholders, concerning the system interfaces.
- To lead the Requirements Management process and ensure that the Design is delivered in accordance with the contract specs and within the defined timeframe.
- To support the Design Team to provide the defined Design deliverables, in accordance with the Contract Requirements and the relevant standards, rules and regulations.
- To lead the System Assurance process in collaboration with the System Architect, the System Assurance Manager and the SW Development Manager.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
- More than 10 years of working experience in relevant roles for large tunnel infrastructure projects.
- Be a team player with a strong work ethic and the ability to foster a positive work environment.
- Able to effectively develop key working relationships with customers and partners.
- Be self-dependent with a high level of initiative, impact and result-orientation.
- Possess excellent written, verbal and communication skills in English.
What else do I need to know?
The following skills are desirable and will be considered as an asset:
- International project experience, experience in a similar role in other tunnel projects in Australia and knowledge of international standards and local regulations.
- Previous experience with Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) projects.
- University Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or related fields.
