About the opportunity
Reporting to the Bid Director within a growing team working across multiple projects ($80m to $500m), you will prepare capital and operating cost estimates for both substation and transmission line projects, customer connections, non-regulated works, asset replacement strategies, major operating projects and non-network projects. You will also have your own team to manage, coach and mentor.
- Management of technical responses to bids and opportunities, project scoping and design coordination for non-prescribed projects, including option feasibility studies.
- Review and utilize the cost estimation databases and tool to develop accurate project estimates, including analysis of project data to provide relevant benchmarking;
- Attend and take an active role in risk and opportunity assessment workshops and develop project contingency as an outcome of this;
- Provide estimating leadership, supervision and support to other team members.
- Support the maintenance of estimating systems, databases, risk processes and tools to ensure the accuracy of project estimates.
Office based role with occasional travel to projects sites (mainly NSW).
About you
You’ll need business acumen, insight, and agility to respond to competitive pressures and to hand over complete, accurate, appropriate, and affordable projects for delivery.
- Knowledge of the high voltage transmission industry and industry reform objectives
- Thorough understanding of the role and requirements of planning in regulatory agencies and of the regulatory approvals process associated with high voltage transmission assets in NSW
- Extensive experience in engineering project management in the energy industry and / or delivery of high voltage transmission capital projects
- Proven ability to manage a team of technical specialists and professional staff, providing guidance, mentoring, and coaching
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills coupled with an understanding of emerging technologies and stakeholder expectations
