The Director of Human Resources & Industrial Relations plays a central role in shaping our organisation's success. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this role will provide strategic leadership, develop comprehensive HR policies and programs, and champion best practices in Industrial Relations. Our ideal candidate will be regionally based and passionate about fostering a positive and productive work environment and leveraging the power of our workforce to achieve strategic business objectives, including change and transformation.
Key knowledge and experience
- Employment Law and Industrial Relations: Deep understanding of employment legislation, industrial instruments, policies, and procedures in the NSW Public Sector.
- HR Strategy and Policy Development: Expertise in formulating HR policies, people plans, and strategies aligned with organisational goals.
- Industrial Relations Management: Experience in the application of contemporary approaches to Industrial Relations, fostering effective working relationships with unions and representing the organisation in industrial forums.
- Strategic HR Management: Ability to integrate HR functions with broader business objectives and identify strategic people initiatives.
- Leadership: Proven track record in leading and inspiring a large high-performing team.
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic HR plans and programs.
- Change Management: Ability to lead and drive change in IR practices and implement innovative HR solutions.
- Communication and Negotiation: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including unions and government agencies.
- Budget Management: Experience in managing budgets effectively.
Essentials:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Human Resource Management or similar discipline, or equivalent relevant knowledge, experience, and training.
