About the role:
Reporting directly to the House Manager, the Disability Support Worker's role is required to provide best practice, culturally appropriate supports in building the capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander NDIS participants to achieve their short and long term goals; as well as an enriched and independent quality of life.
Disability Support Workers undertake a range of daily functions, requiring the application of NDIS sector knowledge to a satisfactory level; in addition to a positive, determined mind-set that forms ‘best practice’ support methods for all Koiop Connect participants.
The Disability Support Worker achieves this through:
- Providing direct support to participants focused on achieving goals and building capacity
- Facilitating a high standard of service to NDIS participants at all times
- Participating in effective stakeholder engagement regarding participants
- adherence to risk management and reporting systems within the organisation and NDIS sector at all times.
- Ensuring compliance with all organisational and NDIS policies, procedures, frameworks and standards at all times.
- Maintaining professionalism and accountability to the highest standard across all operations.
Essential Requirements:
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- A current driver's license
- Access to registered, insured and reliable motor vehicle
- Ability to undertake shift work within a 24/7 rotating roster arrangement (Monday to Sunday)
- Completion of the following online training modules: NDIS Worker Orientation, Supporting Effective Communication, and infection control
