About the role

The Education Officer: Performing and Visual Arts (Music) role focuses on directing and supporting the work of the Arts team in a variety of strategic and operational matters across Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) with a specific focus on Music.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to;

• leading the overall musical direction of events across the diocese including Liturgical, ArtsHQ Live and Special Events
• collaborating with the wider ArtsHQ team in implementing the SCS Creative and Performing Arts initiatives
• applying knowledge of contemporary practice to drive improvements in Arts education through curriculum support and teacher mentoring
• supporting HSC students and teachers in their preparation for HSC Music Composition, Performance and Musicology electives
• collaborating with music producers to create rehearsal tracks and high quality recordings for rehearsals and performances
• collaborating with the Arts team to support the strategic building of archdiocesan and network ensembles
• mentoring music teachers to improve practice
• acknowledging that SCS is a child-safe environment and all concerns regarding child safety and allegations of inappropriate conduct will be treated seriously, by reporting all claims to their line manager and the SCS Child Safety team
• promoting and implementing SCS’s mission and vision To know and love Christ
• any other duties as directed from time to time.

About you

To be successful in this position, you must possess:

• a university Degree in Education or Teaching
• a minimum of five years of teaching experience and demonstrated success in a school setting working with diverse learners and students with additional needs
• experience in the design and delivery of leading staff in professional learning
• demonstrated success in improving student outcomes
• demonstrated success in implementing school-wide initiatives
• experience in using data analysis to inform educational initiatives
• demonstrated ability to articulate contemporary educational trends in both local and international contexts
• a willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of SCS.

Additionally, you are required to:

• be a qualified and accredited teacher with NESA
• operate at the Highly Accomplished or Lead level of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
