The Student Learning Support Officer role will report to the Team Leader at our Dubbo campus and provide a critical support service to the mainstream staff in the day to day delivery of programs, lessons and a variety of administration duties.
Essential Criteria
The successful applicant must have the capacity to build effective relationships with students, staff and parents whilst enhancing student wellbeing and opportunities for improved academic outcomes.
- Support in-class teacher delivery and management of class behaviour by providing additional support to students, facilitating group activities, and implementing classroom management strategies to ensure a conducive learning environment.
- Enter student information and data into the College CRM (Sentral) daily for reporting for NCCD purposes.
- Provide support to the Learning Support Team (LST) through the supervision and implementation of LST tasks as directed by the LST Coordinator
- Assist staff with student supervision in support of formal learning activities such as excursions and field trips as required
- Build supportive relationships with the staff and students at SSC in order to provide opportunities for selected students
- Ability to monitor and raise student welfare needs to staff as required
- Assist staff with the general support of student welfare needs through active engagement with the student bodies and assist with transition into work, TAFE or University
- Planning, prioritising and implementing a variety of work tasks and schedules on time
- Identification of welfare needs of students and facilitation of meaningful solutions utilising a holistic approach
- Assist staff with student supervision and Learning Support in a variety of formal learning activities
- Previous experience working within a school and particularly with disadvantaged and at-risk youth
- An understanding of and commitment towards engaging high school level students and pro-actively supporting their health and wellbeing
- Well-developed written, oral and organisational skills
- Current Working with Children Check Certificate
Skillset Senior College is a member of the Association of Independent Schools NSW (AIS NSW) and offers great employment conditions. Pay and conditions are determined by the AIS NSW Multi-Enterprise Agreement.
