Queensland Rail is currently seeking an energetic and innovative Electrical Engineer within our SEQ Rollingstock Engineering team. In this role you will be primarily responsible for performing Electrical Engineering designs to improve the safety and performance of rollingstock to ensure rollingstock availability, reliability and cost effectiveness.. This is a full-time 23 month fixed term opportunity, based in Brisbane.

Key responsibilities include:
- The design of Low Voltage (LV) and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems for rollingstock power and control systems
- Conduct tests and analysis, and make recommendations to improve the reliability and performance of rollingstock and associated equipment
- Develop design and modification documentation to the required standards, following design control procedures
- Manage modifications to parts and equipment, including problem solving and fault finding
- Liaise with technical, trade and other Queensland Rail staff regarding rollingstock modification issues
- Provide technical assistance and advice to Rollingstock Maintenance.
We are inviting applications from people who have:
- A Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Electrical design experience with LV and ELV
- Demonstrable skill in undertaking technical investigations, tests, problem solving trial modifications and preparation of technical reports
- Previous Electrical Engineering experience within rollingstock or other heavy industry
- An understanding of quality improvement principles in relation to reliability and performance
- High levels of written and oral communication skills.
