As an Engineer Chapter Lead you will be responsible for engineering world class solutions end to end, mentor squad members in your squad, solve complex problems, improving the way we work at ANZ and as a Squad member, contributing to the accomplishment of the Squad's mission in designing, building, integrating, testing and supporting applications and/or our underlying bank infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of Payments processing value chain and latest technology as well as have a deep proven understanding in a cloud based technology stack. The Payments Platform engineering architecture extensively takes advantage of GCP cloud based applications
What will your day look like
- Demonstrate deep expertise in Engineering combined with broad capability and a proven ability to innovate and adapt to the latest developments in our technologies mentioned below.
- Demonstrates in-depth customer insights and acts as an advocate, enhancing the customer experience by challenging and encouraging others to put the customer first.
- Maintains commitment to change; engages with others to gain buy-in and act as an advocate for continuous improvement.
- Strong awareness of banking and finance industry trends and threats (technology, products, regulatory environment, competitors, innovations).
- Defines patterns and standards to ensures strategic technologies and frameworks are used optimally.
- Assists in identifying and evaluating potential new technologies and frameworks
- Review, understand, and prepare architectural artifacts and documents, with minimal support from members of the architecture practice, to ensure solutions are implemented within architectural guide-rails.
- Ability to deep dive and provide resolution for customer and system/production issues/incidents.
- Review, develop and make key contributions to technology strategies and roadmaps to ensure solutions remain fit for the changing business need and technology landscape.
- Help others to identify and deliver appropriate controls or mitigations including risks to other parts of the organisation.
- Maintain a high level of accountability by fostering a culture of ownership within the team, leading to timely project completion and the achievement of departmental goals.
- Additionally, as a Chapter Lead, you spend a proportion of your time developing people in your Chapter
- Responsible for the personal development and performance reviews of Chapter members, based on input from Product Owners and Squad members
- Coaching and development planning on expertise and personal development by promoting a continuous development culture
- Recognise and develop top-talent and proactively manage under-performance
- Work with Technology Area Lead to understand and plan for workforce capability needs, current and future
We know not everyone will bring all of the skills and experience, and at ANZ we are focused on people bringing a growth mindset to their approach to work. - Very strong development experience with Java 11+, Springboot
- Experience developing using spring framework such as Spring Cloud Data Flow (SCDF), Spring Batch, Spring Cloud Stream with Solace and Kafka.
- Experience developing using database NoSQL - MongoDB, Oracle, EDB, Starburst - query Engine, ElasticSearch and Object storage such as Dell ECS, Google Cloud Storage (GCS).
- Experience in working on event driven architecture for high throughput and low latency service design and development.
- Good hands-on experience in developing and running workloads in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Good grasp of security best-practices
- Strong experience with microservices architectures and APIs
- Strong grasp of software design principles and patterns
- Enterprise platform experience with a high volume of transactions / users
- Experience to Docker and Kubernetes platforms (e.g. OpenShift, GKE)
- Strong experience with iterative delivery using Scrum, Kanban or SAFe
- Strong experience in DevSecOps principles and CI/CD pipelines (Bamboo, codefresh)
- Experience automating functional and non-functional tests with testing framework.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, think creatively with attention to details.
- Demonstrated ability to share knowledge and collaborate well within a team.
- Time management, organisational skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of application monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry)
- Experience designing and implementing challenging solutions.
