About the role
We’re looking for a passionate leader to roll up their sleeves and work alongside our highly talented group of engineers, solving tomorrow's education challenges through scalable technical solutions that leverage the latest technology trends, automations and AI. In this high paced and energetic environment, you’ll build and nurture a high performing team, drive product delivery and ensure the technical quality and performance of our platform. As part of the leadership team, you will also play a key role in shaping the technical vision and direction of the company.
Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Define and execute strategies to drive change and innovation within the engineering department, aligning with the company's goals and objectives.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, design, and other teams to prioritize and execute initiatives that enhance our SaaS offerings.
Provide hands-on technical guidance and support to the engineering team, leveraging your expertise to overcome technical challenges and drive excellence.
Cultivate a growth-oriented environment, identifying opportunities for skill development, talent acquisition, and onboarding best practices.
Foster effective communication and collaboration within the engineering team and across the organization, ensuring alignment and transparency.
Lead by example, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence, resilience, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
About you
You’re a hands-on leader with a passion for driving change and making a tangible impact. You thrive in environments where you can roll up your sleeves, dive into the details, and lead by example to drive success.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Extensive (5 years +) B2B SaaS experience, ideally leading a SaaS development team.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills, who can motivate and empower a team to achieve their best.
- A leadership style that seeks to create a culture of team ownership and accountability and the ability to drive change.
- A modern approach to building software products with experience working closely with Product and Design teams.
- Experience taking start-ups to scale-ups and beyond by developing staff, creating great onboarding experiences and identifying and assessing talent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, persuade and inspire.
- Exceptional time management and prioritization skills adept at creating efficiencies to drive overall team effectiveness
- Adaptability and resilience, able to navigate changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- This is a role that will suit someone who is eager to build on an already successful career but also has aspirations to grow into a more senior leadership position.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience leading a software development team, ideally in a B2B SaaS environment
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development and architecture.
- Demonstrated proficiency in applying change management theories and methodologies, coupled with a proven track record of successfully leading and implementing transformative change.
- Exceptional people leadership and coaching skills, with a focus on fostering talent and driving growth.
- Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and building high-performance teams.
